Our Pool Construction Process

1. Consultation

Our process starts with a tailored consultation where we dedicate time to grasp your vision, lifestyle, and environment. We’ll cover your design choices, budget constraints, and essential features while addressing your inquiries and providing expert advice. This phase guarantees that we are in sync with your goals before progressing to the design stage.

2. Pre-Construction

The preliminary phases of the construction process may involve removing trees, obtaining permits, and planning the pool layout. If you lack a gate or open access, it will be necessary to take down any fencing. When removing fencing, only the sections needed to provide access and proceed with the construction will be dismantled.

5. Plumbing and Electrical Stub-Ou

Usually right after the steel rebar is installed, our team of plumbers and electricians start installing the water lines, electrical niches , will be stubbed out prior to gunite application.

4. Steel Rebar

Steel Rebar is utilized to create a framework for the floor and walls of your pool. This Rebar will be present throughout the pool – on the bottom and along the sides. Spacers are placed to keep the Rebar elevated from the earth, avoiding direct contact with the dirt base of the pool. This setup allows the gunite to be layered beneath, around, and above the rebar. The combination of gunite and steel Rebar results in a robust and pool scape with high structural integrity.

9. Decking

This is the perimeter area surrounding your pool. There are a variety of surfaces that are implemented here based on your design from the standard Sundek material to custom stone or stamped concrete.

7. Electrical / Plumbing

This Phase install all the plumbing and electrical components. We ensure that the plumbing is pressure tested and the electrical meets the necessary city and state codes.

8. Coping and Tile

While the Gunite is curing we will start having the materials needed for tile and coping delivered to the site. Our expert stone mason will place the tile along the water line of your pool. The coping is the material installed on the top or "beam" of the structure. Also during this time all waterfall and rock features will be put into place.

12. Start-up & Training

Rivas Pool will provide the homeowner with "pool school". This a lengthy course on how to care and maintain your swimming pool and spa. Rivas Pool will also monitor your pool for the first 30 days after pool is full and all equipment is started up. Our excellent customer service does not end after your pool is finished. We are always just a phone call away if you have any questions or concerns regarding your new investment.

3. Excavation

After marking the perimeter, a tractor will dig out the soil from the pool site. Keep in mind that the hole will be slightly larger than the final dimensions of your pool. This extra space is necessary for the gunite that creates the shell. Typically, excavation is completed in one day.

10. Pool Surfacing

The finishing of the pool interior will be executed. Depending on your selected option, this may include white marble plaster, Pebble Tec, or another one of the available finishes you have chosen. Upon completion of the plaster application, we will promptly commence filling the pool and/or spa. If you opt for Pebble Tec, please note that the pool will remain empty overnight. Our team will return the next day to perform an acid wash and subsequently fill the pool. It is essential for the water level to reach the center of the waterline tile (the perimeter tile located at the upper edge of your pool) or the center of the skimmer. Once this level is reached, your pool is considered full, and you may turn off the water supply. Please refrain from turning the water off during the filling process, as this may lead to the formation of a line-like ring that could stain the plaster.

11. Clean-Up

Debris will be cleanup away from both the interior and the exterior of the pool. If an exterior fence was taken down, it will be put back up at this time.

6. Gunite

A large team of experienced personnel apply the gunite using high-pressure hoses to create the tough inner shell of your new pool. It is applied to both sides of the Rebar to suspend the bars within the walls and floor to form a very strong, solid structure. Water curing of the gunite is critical and you will be required to wet down the gunite 2 to 3 times per day for the first 7 days.
